I am a really bad Catholic; a terrible sinner, but that is the gift of Catholicism; I know God still loves me.
I am a Franciscan Catholic (did you know that we come in different flavors? Most ppl don’t, especially my fellow Americans who are largely Protestant, atheist or pagan).
I’m a cradle Catholic, which means my faith was a gift my parents gave me that I never asked for but that I am incredibly grateful for now,
I lost my whole world; all I have left is my faith and I thank God and my parents for gifting me with Catholicism. I’d be long dead without it
So here is THE FRANCISCAN PRAYER, which helps guide me through my nightmare life. I do not live up to my prayer as much as I need to, but I do sincerely try & genuinely beg the Lord to help make me a better tool for His purposes.
Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
